Telehealth Therapy
As a psychotherapist, I am warm, compassionate and active. I have been practicing in West Los Angeles for over 30 years. I truly believe in the impact therapy has on people who are having difficulties in their lives or in their relationships. I will focus on getting to know you as a unique individual and developing a relationship with you that will help you in your growth.
In therapy, we will work together to clarify the areas in your life with which you are not satisfied. I will guide and support you as you experience and work through feelings and gain insights. You will become more aware of your feelings and your reactions to these feelings. I will help you discover how your personal history and experiences contribute to who you are today. In our work, you will have the opportunity to identify and understand recurring themes and patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With this awareness you will become open to new possibilities. The therapeutic process will help you become more self aware, make different and more thoughtful choices, feel more in control of your life, and become more self accepting.
When you are unhappy with the dynamics in your relationship and come for therapy, you will each have a place to express your feelings and needs with a focus on listening to and understanding each other. We will work on improving your communication and recognizing patterns and emotional triggers that recur in your relationship. Key to making changes is understanding how the ways in which you each communicate and interact are shaped by your family backgrounds and from the history of your relationship. Couples therapy will help you gain greater mutual understanding, closeness, trust, and problem-solving skills.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from UCLA in 1974 and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from UC Berkeley in 1977. In 1986 I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I hold a Certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis. I am a member of professional organizations, including NASW (National Association of Social Workers) and CSCSW (California Society for Clinical Social Workers).
